Both The Republic of Angola and Portugal are both opening a Consulate General in Guangzhou in the coming months.

The Republic of Angola’s Consulate General will open this month and be headed by diplomat João Baptista da Costa as Consul General.

The Republic of Angola’s Consulate General will offer assistance to the many Angolans who come to Guangzhou for business and schooling. According to Macauhub, Guangzhou is one of Angolan citizens most frequented destinations to work and study.

Portugal aims to have its Consulate General reopened by October. It has been closed since September 1966, according to Portuguese daily newspaper Diário de Todos.

“In the first half of October a diplomat is due to start working who will be in charge of setting up the Consulate General,” José Cesário, the Portuguese Secretary of State for the Communities, told the newspaper. “He must select the facilities and then start recruiting staff.”
