Pollution season has well and truly started in Beijing with the city set for another very hazy weekend, reports South China Morning Post

According to the Central Weather Bureau, the AQI (Air Quality Index measuring concentrations of various concentrations of pollutants) in some areas surrounding Beijing may be around 500 (also known as hazardous) on Saturday and Sunday. Visibility in central Beijing will be 3km-6km. If you're a resident this means masks at the ready and if you're a visitor - well, we're sorry.

Cold weather is set to blow in from Monday onwards which should dissipate the smog and fear not; The Central Weather Bureau's Chief has issued some ground breaking advice; eat light, easily digestible food including fresh vegetables and drinking water to help your body copy. Great, that makes everything ok!

Thick smog blanketed Beijing for four days last week, forcing authorities to take measures to cut emissions. Work was halted at 35 factories around the capital and construction sites were ordered to reduce dust.
