May 27: American Cookout @ The Local

This Memorial Day, The Local will have an American menu for those homesick for cookout classics like hot dogs, burgers and even a grilled Cajun shrimp boil. Can't make it for the holiday celebration? The menu is available weekly on Sundays.

May 29-June 3: The Three-Body Problem II: Dark Forest

The Lotus Lee Drama Project bring the second part of Liu Cixin’s science fiction trilogy, The Three-Body Problem, to the stage with a visual re-enactment of the world of the novels. The multimedia project follows a small band of humans who must save the planet when it comes under threat by space predators.

May 29-Aug 4: Bowie by Mick Rock

798 Art Factory hosts an exciting exhibition featuring 65 photographs of the glam rock legend David Bowie taken by his official photographer Mick Rock. There will also be an original soundtrack for the exhibit, performance footage, filmed interviews with the iconic British photographer and more.

May 30: Marc Melià

Based in Belgium, alternative indie artist and composer Marc Melià will make his Beijing debut this Thursday night. He’ll be playing his futuristic arrangements (created using a Prophet ’08) from his solo album Music for Prophet, with support by classical pop project AEM Studio.

May 30: Shuck Off Launch Party

C Pearl hosts Shuck Off China for the ultimate launch party, featuring oyster shucking competitions, crazy deals on the salt-water delicacy and an award-winning guest bartender serving up some fine cocktails. It’s gonna be a shell of a good time.

May 31: Vintage Clothing Market
