Feb 21: Classic Movie Tuesday: A New Kind of Love (1963)

Movie nights at Pop-Up don't typically include films that were released anytime after 1960. But they're breaking their own rule this once for a screening of A New Kind of Love (1963). The classic comedy stars Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Thelma Ritter and involves a rather hilarious case of mistaken identity.

Tues Feb 21, 7.30-9.30pm. Pop-up Beijing, see event listing

Feb 21-23: Swan Lake

The capital is not wanting for Swan Lake ballet adaptations (we profiled another just a few months ago). But we’re not complaining – it is a classic after all. Besides, the tale will be performed by the Ballet Company of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre this time around. The Lithuanian Ballet Company first performed the piece way back in 1927, so they know what they’re doing.

Tue Feb 21-Thu Feb 23; RMB100-600; Opera House of NCPA, (tickets via sales@theatrebeijing.com), see event listing

Feb 23: Say Cheese! An Extravagant Wine & Cheese Night

If you like wine and cheese (and we do!) the Chaine Des Rotisseurs Beijing Bailliage and Vinotheque20 are pairing up to host an epic wine and cheese event. There will be 20 types of cheeses from around the world. In addition there will be cold cuts, canapes, pasta and, of course, wine.

Thurs Feb 23, 7-10pm. RMB700. Kerry Hotel, see event listing.

Feb 24-25: Pasta Weekend

Spring is coming up quickly, which means Ramo is doing a little Spring cleaning to its menu by adding homemade pasta dishes. Made-from-scratch tagliatelle pasta drenched in a variety of fresh pasta sauces are now available alongside signature pizzas and other dishes. Guests can choose from spicy pasta all’arrabiatta (RMB48), aromatic pesto alla genovese (RMB48) or classic pomodoro e basilico with beef meatballs (RMB68). As if this weren't tempting enough, Ramo will be offering two-for-one deals on their new dishes all weekend long.

Sat-Sun Feb 25-26, 10am-11pm. Ramo, see event listing.

Feb 25: Cartoccio & Mimi e Coco Pop-Up

Mimi e Coco and Cartoccio are partnering up to bring you a full-on Italian day – Southern Italian to be exact. Chef Pepe will be taking over the kitchen at Mimi e Coco and cooking up Italian street food classics. Think beef ragu arancini and sans meat croquettes. The food festivities will kick off at 4pm (until late). There will, of course, be killer cocktails too. Mimi e Coco will be mixing up one of Italy’s most famous cocktails in three delicious ways. And to top it off there will be screenings of Italian classics. (FYI, head over to Ramo after for a weekend party).

Sat Feb 25, 4pm-late. Mimi e Coco, see event listing.
