Any aspiring writers out there? We thought so. Xu Xi, of Authors at Large, is hosting a creative writing workshop (fiction & nonfiction) on September 25 at The Bookworm. Xu Xi brings with her all sorts of experience and expertise. She is not only a prolific author – with five novels and five short fiction and essay collections under her belt – but she is also the editor of four English-language anthologies about Hong Kong.

During the workshop you will analyze your own writing and develop new writing skills. There will be a focus on word choices, sentences and paragraphs in your work as well as the work of others. Make sure to bring your writing with you because during the workshop excerpts will be anonymously read and discussed among the group.

If you want to attend don’t forget to submit a 250-word writing sample. It can be the opening paragraph of a new story, essay or book that you’re currently writing or would like to write. The deadline is Sunday September 18 (one week before the workshop). Send your drafts to xuxi@xuxiwriter.com. For all other inquiries email info@chinabookworm.com.

Sep 25, 5.30pm. RMB200. Reserve your tickets by emailing order@beijingbookworm.com (tickets must be reserved by Sep 18).
