Do you have the urge to make the most of Beijing’s crisp fall weather before hunkering down for a long and cold winter? We do too. Well, lucky for us the Beijing Hiking Festival is returning to the capital on October 15.
There will be two trails to choose from, so hikers of all levels can participate.
The first will be the Hike for Fun trail, a 10km hike that snakes through hills, valleys and an unrestored section of the Great Wall. This one’s a good option for beginners, families and those who want to take it a little more slowly.
The second trail – dubbed The Challenge trail – will be a bit more intense. It stretches 24km across some pretty mountainous terrain, which makes it a good trail for experienced hikers.
Whichever you choose, both routes are bound to offer some pretty amazing scenery - have a look at last year’s festival for taste.
Water and snacks will be provided to all participants. And after the race everyone can join in on a post-hike picnic complete with some well-deserved beers, snacks, drinks and prizes.
Registration and payment must be completed before October 8. Payments can be made by WeChat or Alipay, bank transfer or by making an appointment and bringing cash or card to the Beijing Hikers office.
Prices are as follows:
10km route: RMB500 per person/400 RMB for kids aged 7-12, 10% discount for BJH members and teams of 5 or more people.
24km route: RMB700 per person, 10% discount for BJH members and teams of 5 or more people.
