Beijing Orders Apple to Stop Selling iPhone 6

A Beijing patent regulator has ordered Apple to stop selling the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in the capital, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Beijing Intellectual Property Bureau recently released a statement that the two models too closely resemble the design of the 100C phone made by Shenzhen Baili, thus infringing on its patent. As such, the court has ordered Apple to end sales of the devices in the capital.

Apple, which plans to appeal the ruling, says sales will remain unaffected as it continues to keep iPhones available for purchase across the country. The national Intellectual Property Court, which holds authority over the municipal-level property bureau, will review the decision.

The order comes as yet another blow to Apple's China aspirations. In April, the American technology company was forced to shut down its iBooks and iTunes Movies platforms by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television after launching just a few months prior. Meanwhile, the Apple News app is still blocked and Apple TV remains unavailable.

Perhaps another Tim Cook visit is in order?
