April 27-29: Sound of the Xity

Hosted by Yugong Yishan, Sound of the Xity brings us an eclectic lineup of Chinese and Western artists. Expect something different each night. This year’s festival features a variety of sounds ranging from pop to rock to electronic. And each night of the three-day festival will have a different theme. Note that there have been some recent changes to the lineup, so head here for the most up-to-date information.

April 29: Flamenco Jazz Fusion Night

Any flamenco fans out there? We thought so. Head over to Jianghu Bar on Friday for an incredible night of live flamenco music. Guitar prodigy, Alberto Cuéllar will headline the show with his signature flamenco-jazz style. Jesus Navas Valverde, Diego Rodrigo Calvo and Pedro Rodriguez Andres will also perform.

April 29: Stevie Mac & The Mac Daddies

The Beijing-based pop and jazz band is slated to perform at Modernista on Friday. Front man and vocalist Steven McKinney, will be accompanied by his nine fellow bandmates who play all manner of instruments, including guitar, bass, keys, drums and horns. Head to Modernista to sample their classic and contemporary tunes.

April 30: ShadowPlay Presents FULL_SCREEN

Along with a whole host of international artists, Rahaan (the Chicago-based veteran DJ) Syracuse (the Parisian EM duo) and more will perform at Tango for the FULL_SCREEN event, a new initiative from the ShadowPlay Collective where musicians and artists are brought together to create a multisensory experience full of cosmic techno and disco illusions.

April 30 - May 2: Strawberry Music Festival

As if you didn't already know. Modernsky's spring music festival is back at a new location – the 10,000-square-kilometer Grand Epoch City. International headliners include The Prodigy, Disclosure and Modestep, in addition to a strong lineup of Chinese indie and rock artists. Tickets cost RMB300 (one day), RMB610 (three days); RMB240 (one day, presale); RMB519 (three days, presale)
