As of February 6, Beijing is free of mid- and high-risk epidemic areas. It comes after an announcement at the 225th press conference on epidemic control by the Beijing Information Office.
The last area to be downgraded to low-risk was Ronghui residential community in Daxing district. The area saw 14 successive days during which no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported.
On February 6, 13 residential communities in the Tiangongyuan area of Daxing district were told that quarantine measures were no longer necessary. However, residents in the area would need to undergo 14 days of ‘health monitoring’ during which they must report health symptoms to the local community and avoid large gatherings.
Beijing has implemented strict rules regarding testing and ‘health monitoring’ for those leaving and re-entering the city over the Spring Festival period. Mid- and high-risk areas remain in parts of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Hebei provinces as well as in Shanghai.
The latest news will, however, bring some reassurance that Beijing’s recent outbreak of COVID-19 has come under control.
