Just yesterday morning, local authorities in Sichuan province stopped the search for 93 people who went missing in a landslide in Xinmo village, Maoxian county, on June 24. At around 11.10am, BBC reported, the group of over 3,000 rescuers was told to hold off their efforts for fear of triggering a second landslide.

The rescue operations had previously saved a family of three but also recovered 10 bodies. In addition to its human toll, the landslide wiped out about half of the homes in the village.

Although the rescue effort is currently off, you can still help out with disaster relief in the area.

You can give to the Sichuan Charity Federation (website in Chinese), which accepts donations via bank transfer and mail. The organization is coordinating with a local charity group in Aba prefecture, where the disaster took place, and was the top choice for Chinese billionaire Wang Jianlin, among others; he gave 20 million yuan to help landslide victims.

Other similar organizations, such as the 'charity federation' of Dazhou, Sichuan, are also accepting donations to help with relief efforts.
