Sat, Oct 19: 11th Annual Captivating Midnight Charity Run

On your mark, get set, go! Enjoy runner’s high this Saturday at the 11th Annual Captivating Midnight Charity Run. All proceeds from registration fees and raised funds will support the work of the Shenzhen Charity Federation Captivating Fund, which works to educate school girls in West China. There are two registration options: RMB250 per runner (limited to 160 attendees) or if you fundraise over RMB1,000 then you are eligible for one free entry!

Sat, Oct 19: Free Self-Defense Class For Women

There will be a free self-defense class for women of all ages and nationalities, led by Duiu Onofrei, a Qwan Ki Do-style black belt (Chinese-Vietnamese martial arts). The class will be conducted in English, but there will be Chinese translators as well. Scan the QR code in the event listing to sign up or add WeChat ID: duiu123 to reserve your spot!

Sat-Sun, Oct 19-20: National Theatre: La Bayadere

This grand romantic ballet is set in India, featuring spectacular sets and virtuoso performances. The ballet is performed to Ludwig Minkus’ music, telling the story of a beautiful Indian temple dancer, Nikiya, her lover Solor, a warrior serving the raja, Gamzatti, the raja’s daughter who has taken a liking to Solor and the High Brahmin who also has feelings for Nikiya. Unlike many previous interpretations, Mexican choreographer Javier Torres’ brings back all four acts and, given Czech standards, there is also the largest ensemble of dancers on stage at once.

Sun, Oct 20: Myth & Roid

Myth & Roid are a Japanese pop rock duo whose songs you might recognize from various anime series. Their name comes from two words: ‘myth’ representing the past, and ‘android’ representing the future; the band hopes that these two aspects will allow the creation of ‘a new world.’ Their songs can be described as an upbeat mishmash of horror pop and EDM, with a mix of English and Japanese lyrics.

This Eataly-themed afternoon tea celebrates the rich flavors of Italian cuisine. A selection of delicious desserts created by JW Marriott Shenzhen Bao’an’s culinary team will capture a foodie’s heart at first sight. Placed in intricately designed jewelry boxes, guests can find an assortment of Italian favorites like lemon mousse cake, lemon cheesecake, lemon cream puffs, tiramisu and panna cotta with rose syrup.
