Wed, Mar 6: The Big Lebowski Movie Night

One of the greatest cult films of all time celebrates the 21st anniversary of its original US release this coming Wednesday. In celebration, Trafalgar have put together this fun event, which will see the film screened, while White Russians, the iconic drink favored by Jeff Bridges’ The Dude, are just RMB40 a pop.

Until Thu Mar 7: The Flavors of Northern Thailand

Guest Chef Rada Phanpung from Chiang Mai, Thailand, will present an array of delicious culinary treats from the northern Thai province from March 3-7 at Four Seasons Hotel, Shenzhen. With weekday buffet lunches priced at RMB318 per person, weekday dinners at RMB488 per person, weekend buffets at RMB588 per person and a three-course lunch in the hotel’s FOO restaurant at RMB488 per person, diners can seize this opportunity to eat some of the most luxuriant and delicious food items that Chiang Mai has to offer.

Tue-Sun, Mar 7-Apr 14: Stone Paintings of Zhou Yang

Zhou Yang, who was born in Longnan, Gansu province in 1986, and who now lives in Xi’an, creates bold and colorful oil paintings on canvas. A large part of his work revolves around the depictions of rocks and stones within natural settings, contrasting gray hues with deep shades of blue, green and red, giving his works an undeniable sense of vitality.

Fri, Mar 8: Brazilian Carnaval
Famed for being one of the biggest parties in the world, Bar Ink bring their own celebration of Carnaval to Shenzhen this Friday, with Brazilian DJ Gui Bender in attendance, special Brazilian cocktails on offer for customers, while folks can also take part in fun samba dancing from 10pm onwards.

Returning to China on a short three-stop tour, Yung Bae is bringing his new album, Bae, which features more than a bit of inspiration taken from Japanese culture and disco tracks. Yung Bae, from Portland, US, is a kid who was seemingly born on the internet, armed with a host of diverse, yet brilliantly combined influences, making his music a treat for a broad array of listeners.

British band The Underground Youth create dark, minimalist tunes in the style of ’80s post punk bands like Joy Division or Echo and the Bunnymen, but with modern twists. With more than a hint of atmospheric reverb present on their latest release, the two-track Fill the Void, The Underground Youth play with our concepts of space.

Sat, Mar 9: Doctor Tiger Improv

Doctor Tiger Improv Group return, this time in the rather more spacious environs of Shekou-based music venue Brown Sugar Jar, bringing their unique brand of longform improv to the stage. Join in on this interactive performance, in which audience members can offer storyline suggestions for the improv comedians to act upon, and sit back and watch fantastical and zany tales unfold.

Sat, Mar 9: Unchained International Women’s Day
Local drum and bass promotors Unchained have put together a stellar line-up of female DJs in celebration of international Women’s Day this March. Bringing together the likes of Anna Morgan, Katie Cooper and Just Bee in their bass room, and Moon, EMI-CX and Miiia on the techno side of things, this eclectic evening is not to be missed.
