Launched in 1967 by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition showcases the latest illustration works by artists from around the world. The event this time will display 486 illustration pieces created by 76 artists in 2017, which should guarantee a fun experience for both kids and parents.

Fri-Sun, Jan 18-20: Awake LOVE Orchestra

Can you think of a band that has been on the road since founding more than 20 years ago? Well, Swedish band Awake LOVE Orchestra have. In their trips around the world, they have succeeded in turning every variety of venue into a stage. They have previously performed in a valley in Romania, as well as the vast grassland of Mongolia, and now MixC World Theater in Shenzhen plays host to the celebrated troupe.

We’ve heard a lot about Black Deer Records in the past year, with rising acts like Nouvelle and Echo Park taking much of the plaudits. Here we see one of the most prominent acts from the Guangzhou-based independent label take to the stage at Hou Live. Space Station are an experimental instrumental act bound to knock your socks right off your feet and, perhaps, send you into orbit.

If you happen to swing by 1979 Culture and Innovation Park this Saturday, why not let your ears have ‘15 minutes of music’ as performed by the Shenzhen Playing and Singing Group? Listen as the group, which consists of ordinary folks, underground musicians and street singers, share their personal stories through their music.

The book to be discussed is The Coddling of the American Mind by Jonathan Haidt, rated by Bloomberg as the one of the best books of 2018.

Thanks to this event, you don’t need to fly to London to browse The British Museum’s most popular collections. Simply ascend to the 116th floor of Ping An Finance Center, and you can look at over 70 artifacts that are among the museum’s favorite pieces. Though all of them are replicas, the dizzying height of Shenzhen’s tallest skyscraper should make up for that.

Until Mar 8: Despicable Me: A Minion’s Perspective
