More than half a century since her tragic death, Marilyn Monroe is still regarded as a major pop culture icon. Now we may have become all-too-familiar with her sexy, intoxicating on-screen image, but do we really know her?  With a collection built to help you uncover the mystery, Yealife is bringing you the chance to get up close with the superstar, with more than 400 of her personal belongings on display.

Since the first event of its kind was held in 2002, the Game On Exhibition has toured more than 30 countries and over 3.5 million game lovers have enjoyed this 'Museum of Games.' This exhibition covers 60 years of game development history – from the first-ever arcade game Pong through to the state-of-the-art VR games of today.

Mon-Sun, until Oct 24: Hans Christian Andersen Awards of IBBY 50th Anniversary Exhibition

As the most prestigious prize in the field of children's literature, the Hans Christian Andersen Award was established in 1956 by the International Board on Books for Young People. Every award-winning piece must go through a rigorous selection process and assessment before being chosen. To miss out on this exhibition is to miss out on 50 years' of the world's best illustrated works. Make sure that doesn't happen if you have a thing for children's literature and illustrations! Oh, and bring your kids along!

Wed, Sept 26: Jazz Jam Night @Jazz Garden

For all you jazz lovers out there, perhaps nothing can be more exciting than a night of improvised live performances, like-minded friends and a free beer/cocktail (for jammers). This Wednesday, Jazz Garden is all about that! Come and be a part of a night which will include three sessions: a house-band performance, a house-band-plus-jammers performance and a third round of performances open for all jammers. For those who want to join in with the house band, Jazz Garden will provide keys and drums, but do remember to bring your own guitars and bass. Grab your gear and start jamming!

Thu, Sept 27: Community Night with 30 Hong Kong Startups

For all of you out there who are in the startup circle, this event is just for you! Bee+ is rounding up 30 start-up founders from Hong Kong this Thursday to share their experience in their start-up career. The areas in which these founders are specialized include AI, big data, blockchain, financial techology and science, the Internet of things, marketing and more! Come and join the event to meet some like-minded people and learn a thing or two from each other!

Sept 28-Dec 31: Light Show in Futian District


In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, light shows will be held at the Civic Center of Shenzhen's Futian District every evening from September 28 through to December 31. If you haven't already, check out our earlier report on the light show for a teaser!

Fri, Sept 28: Silent Wave Live DJ Performance

As one of the many Silent Disco activities at M Hotel, Silent Wave brings you live DJ performances unlike any other. Wear M Hotel's specially designed headphones and enjoy songs of different styles being played simultaneously by three DJs. The musicians this time include CESAR, Chunjit and EMI-CX with styles ranging from hip-hop, dark trap, psytrance, techno to house and bass. Who needs a loud, noisy party when you can dance the night away silently to the music at M Hotel?

Sun, Sept 30: Blizzard Video Games Live

From Warcraft to Starcraft, and from Diablo to Overwatch, Blizzard has always kept their fans' passion alive with their epic game stories and fascinating graphics. Of course, all of these aspects could not have delivered the best results without one important ingredient, and that is music. While our video-game-playing days may be in the past, we can always relive the glory days through music events like this one. Die-hard Blizzard fans will be able to enjoy an epic night with great music that sends them down memory lane.

Sat, Sept 29: Live Concert: Soprano He Hui

“She’s part of a new generation of opera singers from China who are very gifted,” said Peter Gelb, general manager of the Metropolitan. He Hui was born in Ankang, China in 1972. Now an award-winning operatic lirico-spinto soprano, she received her vocal training at the Conservatory in Xi'an and won second place at Placido Domingo’s Operalia in 2000 and first place in the Verdi Competition in Busseto Voci Verdiane in 2002. Some of the roles she has played include Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte,  Cio Cio San in Puccini's Madama Butterfly and the Verdian role of Aida, amongst many others.
