Good news, bibliophiles! The 28th National Book Expo in Shenzhen will coincide with Hong Kong’s 29th Book Fair. Even better, there will be free shuttle buses available July 19-22 to transport book lovers between the two events. Here's what you need to know about each.

28th National Book Expo, Shenzhen

In honor of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, the country's largest annual book fair is coming to Shenzhen from July 19-22. Nearly 2,000 exhibitors will be spread across the expo grounds, with approximately one million books and hundreds of activities available. With digital reading and e-readers on the rise, there will also be special booths that focus on less traditional ways to consume text. All of Shenzhen’s six book malls will attend the event, with each incorporating their own theme alongside the main slogan of ‘new time, new reading.’

Most events will take place at the Convention and Exhibition Center, Halls 1, 2 and 5, and books will be available for purchase at a 20 percent discount.

Please note that different days have varying opening times. The main venue will be open on Thursday, July 19, from 12-5.30pm, while the expo will last from 9am-10pm on Friday and Saturday (July 20-21). On Sunday, the fair will open at 9am and close at 5.30pm.

Thu-Sun, Jul 19-22; free entry. Convention and Exhibition Center, Halls 1, 2 and 5. See event listingRegister.
