Law enforcement officers have identified the man responsible for hauling a dead dolphin off a Guangdong beach over the Labor Day holiday. According to South China Morning Post, the man – who has not been publicly named – will face punishment for his actions.
Video footage of the incident – which occurred on May 1 – began making the rounds online last week and shows a man in black swim-trunks casually carrying a juvenile false killer whale (a member of the oceanic dolphin family) down a beach on Hailing Island.

As per Chinese law, individuals who come across deceased wild animals are obligated to report the discovery to authorities.
According to a report by Xinhua, local authorities stated the deceased mammal was 120 centimeters long and weighed 15 kilograms.
Investigators have not yet indicated what type of punishment the cetacean carcass defiler may receive, but netizens have some suggestions: “These people are like savages. They should be punished and made to pay hundreds of thousands of yuan,” wrote one web user.
Another suggested the man may need mental help: "This guy is sick in the head and should seek treatment."
False killer whales are not directly related to killer whales, or orcas. Both mammals are, however, similar in appearance and members of the oceanic dolphin family. Neither false killer whales, nor orcas, are whales, according to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation.
In Asia, false killer whales can be found as far north as Russia and northern Japan and as far south as New Zealand. The species also can be spotted in the waters off India and the Arabian Peninsula.
