The Scandalous Scoop is a new feature where our editors share the latest food and drink gossip making the rounds in Shenzhen.

We’re digging:

Swanky, spanking-new BOA in Sea World blending Japanese cuisine with clubbing; Órale spicing up the local Mexican food scene one taquito at a time; Club Sector coming back to life with parties this month; Snicker’s new(ish) spicy chocolate bar

the debut of limited-edition McDonald's 'Szechuan Flavored Dipping Sauce' (of Rick and Morty fame) alongside McNugget meals;

and another swell Shenzhen speakeasy, this one in a massage parlor, from the folks who brought us Barber Shop.

We’re done with:

Saying goodbye to nightlife destinations we both loved (Magma, Club Viva! Shekou) and kind-of liked – here's to you, Lili Marleen; an end to Starbucks’ short-lived BOGO promotion last month; and food delivery drivers feeling the burn with Shenzhen's strictest traffic crackdown yet.
