Fri, Mar 23: Acoustic Jam Night @ Mambo

Kick off your weekend with a little old-school styling. A local acoustic group is bringing the tunes; Shuiwei's premier taco destination will provide food, drink and everything else.

Fri, Mar 23: Unanimous, Of Flesh @ Magma/Dolores Park

Cross a rock band with a metal group and what do you get? A night of rolling, rollicking fun, that's what. Join the headbanging crowd at this cool Shekou venue that throws parties with the best of them. As a bonus, entry is free.

Sat, Mar 24: The China Cats @ Grateful Q

While not technically in Shenzhen, this Dongguan party includes bus rides from Shekou or Futian in the price of a ticket. If you decide to make the leap, expect rock 'n' roll classics from Grateful Dead tribute band The China Cats, plus free beer on the bus and a buffet dinner at Grateful Q. Return journeys are not included; add WeChat ID 'lanny221289' to arrange pickup time and place.

Sat, Mar 24: Reflector @ B10 Live

Back in 2001, 21-year-old punk outfit Reflector became one of the first bands in China to tour the US. Since then the group has also won 'best rock band' at the Top Chinese Music Awards and collaborated with the likes of China's National Symphony Orchestra. The secret to their success lies in unwavering dedication coupled with catchy, edgy tunes.

Sun, Mar 25: Jacques @ Sea World Arts and Culture Center

Quirky electronic artist Jacques, who's playing at Sonar Hong Kong this year, draws on the sounds of everyday life to create his experimental anthems. Listen to him work, then learn a little something at this free outdoor workshop.
