Yesterday, fires ranged over the hills of Lam Tei, Tuen Mun, in Hong Kong's New Territories. According to ejinsight.com, the blaze began at 1pm and only strengthened despite firefighters' efforts.

At one point, the flames had spread out into three lines that, combined, measured 420 meters, TVB News reported.

As the fire raged on, villagers in a nearby residential area were evacuated.

As of this morning, the flames had diminished, although according to an Apple Daily report, by 11am they had yet to be put out. No casualties have been reported.

In an unrelated incident, a bush fire in another part of the New Territories was discovered around 10.30am today. The blaze took place in the Nam Sang Wai wetland and was soon extinguished. It is the third fire to have plagued the wetland over the last 10 days, and its cause is currently under investigation. Police suspect arson for at least one of the fires, according to South China Morning Post.
