Jan 19: Shenzhen Stories Presents Best Laid Plans

Shenzhen's crowd-sourced storytelling event is back, with a roster of selected speakers talking about best laid plans and their 'hilarious, heart-breaking, inspiring, or just down right strange' results. As a bonus, a partnership with International Shenzhen Artist Forum (ISZAF) will add a visual twist to the stories, with artists illustrating what they see and hear during the event.

Jan 19: Dirty Fingers at Brown Sugar Jar

One of 2017’s hottest China-based bands, Dirty Fingers, have transformed from a crazy, alcohol-fueled party band to a group of professional and committed musicians over their two-year tenure. Their second album, How’d I Turn So Bad, has been described as raucous, messy and intoxicating, while the band’s absorbing stage charisma continues to draw fans a-plenty. Jan 19: Kimono Party at The Terrace

The Terrace is celebrating Japanese culture in its own special way with a kimono-themed get-together this weekend. The guest in the sexiest kimono gets a prize; all others can console themselves with happy hour specials, running daily until 9.30pm.

Jan 21: Foster the People

American band Foster the People are on a China tour to promote their third album, Sacred Hearts Club. The album’s hip-hop and electronic influences mark a departure from the band’s previous indie pop records, Torches and Supermodel. Although best known for the viral hit, ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ there’s more to the band than sinister lyrics juxtaposed with sunny beats. Get acquainted with the band here.

Jan 21: Kuku Chai International Youth Art Exhibition

This exhibition is the result of an intergenerational dialogue between students at six international schools and Kuku Chai, 'one of Southern China’s most infamous female visual artists.' The selected works, created by kids aged 7-18, are a reaction to Chai's oeuvre and feature Chinese landscapes, fauna and cityscapes.
