New Year’s is a time for reflection, resolutions and, for many, reckless, unrepentant boozing. For music lovers in Shenzhen, the end of the year heralds the return of Shenzhen New Year’s Midi Festival, an annual concert series which sees both local and global talent hit the stage in Longgang District

PRDers with an affection for hip hop and/or rock n’ roll will undoubtedly be impressed with the recently announced lineup for the 2017/18 Shenzhen New Year’s Midi Festival, which is set to run December 30 and 31.

While past Midi Festival lineups have impressed us, we are very excited to see that Finnish rockers Ensiferum will be bringing their fantastical brand of melodic folk metal to South China.

Ensiferum's lyrical themes regularly focus on Nordic history/mythology

Those in attendance at the festival will also have the opportunity to check out the 2017 Kid’s Midi Band Competition and the annual Midi China Rock Awards, which coincide with the festival.

Like every year, a positive social cause is being promoted through the event, with attendees being asked to take the ‘no plastic food packaging pledge.’ Festival organizers are circulating a letter online, which you can sign to show your commitment to non-plastic, biodegradable doggy bags.
