A deadly shooting took place in Jingzhou town of Chaozhou city, in eastern Guangdong, on Tuesday night. Two were killed at the scene, while a third died after arriving at the hospital. Six others also sustained injuries from the incident.
At 7.53pm on Tuesday, the Raoping County police station received a call about a violent fight near the Jingping Seniors Group in Jingzhou. According to a Weibo post by local police, the caller reported people wounded by a 'gun-shaped object.'
After arriving at the scene, city and county police were unable to find the killer.
Just yesterday afternoon, however, a Weibo update by police included a picture and physical description of their main suspect, a 40-year-old man named Lin Zhonghong who is currently at large.
Lin is described as being around 1.68 meters tall, with a Chaoshan accent. Police are offering RMB100,000 in reward money in return for clues to help track him down.
The Weibo post includes Lin's ID number as well as a few phone numbers to call in case of a spotting.
The numbers are as follows: 0768-110/7803024, 138 2736 6193 (Officer Chen), 138 2737 9300 (Officer Yu).
Gun violence in China is relatively rare, as possession of firearms is highly regulated. Outside of a few specified uses, Chinese law forbids civilians from owning guns.
