Shenzhen's British Day Festival Postponed

We have some bad news: British Day, a festival-style celebration of all things UK that was planned to take place this Saturday, October 21, has been postponed until further notice.

Originally, the event would have taken place at SWIS in Shenzhen. Organizers were thwarted by the current 'sensitive period' (i.e. the ongoing 19th Party Congress in Beijing), but they're working to reschedule the event for a different date and venue:

"The Chamber has been required to postpone the British Day event during this sensitive period.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this postponement, our team have been working incredibly hard with Shen Wai International School and the relevant authorities to ensure that the event could proceed as planned on the 21st October.

We are currently looking to secure an alternative date and venue for Shenzhen British Day, and we hope to announce this shortly."

Although the cancellation is disappointing, at least we don't have to deal with the mass closing of music venues, delayed deliveries and increased security checks on the subway like our friends up north.

Stay tuned for updates!
