Four people are dead and one is missing after deciding to take an ocean dip in a no-swimming area on Guangdong’s Hailing Island in Yangjiang city.

The incident involved eight tourists to the island, three of which were rescued, according to a report published by Tencent News

Video footage and photos circulating online show soldiers, police officers and medical staff performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a number of lifeless bodies.

Netizens have been quick to remind would-be swimmers to heed warnings and avoid no-swimming areas.

While limited information is currently available on how this tragedy came to pass, reports have indicated that three of the deceased were employed in Zhuhai. The case is currently under investigation.
