July 1: Dystopia Disco Shekou at Dolores
The Magma crew is holding a new Dystopia Disco party in Shekou, featuring DJs Ectoplazm, Headless Ghost, Tayta, and Core. The underground vibes from Magma's Baishizhou location will find a new setting in Seaworld's Dolores.

July 1: Higher Brothers Rap
As part of Street Culture Week, rising Sichuan trap group Higher Brothers will give Shenzhen a taste of their original rap music, sung in a mix of Mandarin and Sichuan dialect with the occasional English phrase dropped in for good measure.

July 1: Aly & Fila's 'Future Sound of Egypt' at M2 Club Yun
Aly & Fila are hosts of an online radio show called Future Sound of Egypt. The duo has won awards including fifth place in Magnetic Magazine's Top 100 DJs of 2014 and 1st place in TrancePodium Top 100 DJs of 2015.

July 1-2: Canadian and American Independence Day Parties
From 2-6pm on July 1, The Terrace will combine two national holiday celebrations with food, drinks, kids games, cotton candy and a clown. The first 50 to arrive at this free-entry event will receive a free hot dog. Starting at 2pm the next day, Snake Pit will hold a benefit BBQ party with various delicious dishes including burgers, hot dogs, salad, poutine, maple bacon and Quebecois meat pie; all proceeds go to Sunshine Academy Orphanage. The price of entry is RMB80 for members, RMB100 for non-members.

July 2: The Grand Tasting - A Sparkling Wine & Caviar Affair at Nuvole Di Emma

Jony J is an indie rapper whose debut mixtape J HOOD attracted people’s attention and brought him online fame overnight. Having collaborated with fellow hip-hoppers such as Tizzy T (performing at Dazzle Club June 30), Jony J is steadily making a name for himself.

July 7: Muzikbox Film and DJ
Now combining First Fridays, a monthly showcase of short films from local filmmakers, with drum and vinyl drum n’ bass DJ, Muzikbox is taking up a summer residency in a Shekou coffee shop.

July 8: Endless Summer Beach Party

July 15: French National Day Party
The 2017 French National Day will be held July 15. French and Chinese communities will gather to celebrate this historic day, discovering French culture and cuisine. An expected six hundred guests will enjoy wine, beer and a French buffet dinner, consisting of French and Asian food.

July 19: Benefit Concert for Blind Summer Camp Gig
Celebrated folk artists Zhou Yunpeng and Xiao He will play a benefit concert, with all proceeds going to a summer camp for blind children to be held in Shenzhen. Blinded as a child, Zhou started his music career in 1994, becoming one of China’s most celebrated folk singers. He is also an accomplished poet, author and actor.

Spread throughout OCT Loft, you’ll find pieces of artwork commemorating the area’s unique history. Once a cluster of factories, the area is now the city’s top art district – and who remembers this better than the plants? That’s the thinking for this bizarrely named, yet pretty straightforward area-wide exhibition. Contributing artists include ‘Nut Brother,’ who once made a brick from Beijing’s smog.

The TeamLab exhibition in Shenzhen emphasizes the idea of ‘digits and art.’ The past TeamLab exhibition in Japan was praised as one of the top 10 art exhibitions of 2015. This time, in Shenzhen, visitors are able to see six astounding artistic works using digital equipment.
