Traveling home this time of year is challenging enough, but for one young woman held up at Changping Railway Station in Dongguan this past Saturday, the journey turned into an absolute nightmare.

It all started when the woman, who was accompanied by her boyfriend, attempted to carry a cage of six hamsters past security in the railway station at roughly 1pm. When she was told she couldn’t bring pets on the train, she and her boyfriend began arguing with security, explaining they needed to take the little rodents back to their hometown for the holiday.

Police were soon called to the scene, and after briefly questioning the couple, identified the woman’s boyfriend as a fugitive wanted by the Ministry of Public Security for his involvement in a highway robbery that took place in August 2015.

Naturally, the woman was traumatized by the news, and watched in disbelief as police arrested her boyfriend, who they later identified as an 18-year-old man surnamed Huang from Jieyang city in Guangdong.

There is still no information on what became of the six hamsters.
