ESL Teacher Recounts Hilarious ‘Business Trip’ in New Reddit Post

A new tale has been added to the Reddit China forum Idiot Coworker canon

This time, an ESL center idiot employee brings a foreign teacher on a less-than-productive – and apparently totally unplanned – 'business trip.'

The first bump in the road is actually getting to the destination.

James says to meet him at the airport at 8am. What time is the flight is the obvious question, but James says don’t worry about it. The teacher insists on knowing. James defers. Asked again, he deflects. Asked to see the booking, he is told that it’s all taken care of.

At 8am, the teacher is at the airport, but there is no James.

James is called and says he is on his way.

James arrives at nearly 11am. Walks up directly to the counter and tries to buy a ticket. He is told the only flight for the destination city is at 7pm.

They do finally get on the plane, but even there, James' singular idiocy illuminates the most mundane of flights.

Once on the plane, James leaves the teacher in search of an empty row so he can lie down. He finds one row, lies down and is kicked out. This happens four more times before James realizes that the flight is full.

James becomes angry at the flight attendant and demands instant noodles.

James sits down and is given a free newspaper. He decides to pretend like he knows how to read and tells the teacher about all the interesting events contained in the newspaper. The price of coal is one that holds his interest. James doesn’t seem to notice that the teacher has on headphones.

A little taste of the hysterics after sharing a hotel room takes a turn for the bizarre:

After walking around the block and texting furiously to his coworkers the teacher realizes that James is most likely not gay or hitting on him. He returns to the room and finds James propped up on the bed with a black facial mask.

James is also putting moisturizer on his feet.

The teacher gets into bed mostly clothed.

After a few minutes James asks the teacher about his sexual experiences. Number of partners, the qualities of Chinese girls in comparison to American girls, how easy it must be to be him and how fat the teacher is.

This tale – a mix of exaggeration and fact according to the author – has one of those 'bananafish endings' that will leave you with a vague and muddled malaise. Enjoy the full story here!
