A 53-square-kilometer swath of Bao'an District is set for redevelopment and a Dutch company recently won a bid to re-design the area, according to The Architects Journal.
The space along the G107 highway will be redeveloped after serving as a center of heavy industry during Shenzhen's expansion. The Shenzhen government hopes to move from heavy industry to the creative sector to continue economic growth. The winning bid's video lays out a plan to create hubs to "trigger innovation" and says "Shenzhen has become the most creative city in China."
