Beijing Flooding Causes Train Delays Across the PRD

Dozens of trains were running late in the PRD this morning as a result of torrential rains that have hammered Beijing.

Trains from Shenzhen to Guangzhou East Railway Station experienced delays of around 30 minutes and Shenzhen Station was overrun with hundreds of delayed passengers.

A Shenzhen train station employee, surnamed Chen, told us numerous trains from Beijing to Guangdong were canceled due to heavy rains in the capital, resulting in a shortage of trains in the PRD area. Station staff added that many trains will be running late today and it is still unclear whether the situation will improve by tomorrow.

While the PRD train delays are certainly an annoyance for local commuters, Guangzhou and Shenzhen residents can take solace in the fact that we still have it better than Beijing, where 61 trains were canceled today alone.
