Hot on the heels of a massive cocaine bust in Shenzhen, eight female university students were arrested at the Lo Wu border crossing as they attempted to smuggle 160 PlayStation 4 disks from Hong Kong.
According to ejinsight, the students were attempting to import a new video game, Dark Souls III, and they were busted by Shenzhen customs officers on April 11, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
The young women were dressed casually and each carried a handbag and backpack, according to People.com.cn. Each student's backpack contained 20 disks inside.
After the students were detained, they claimed they had purchased the discs for personal use – an unlikely story, considering no one – and we mean no one – needs 20 copies of the same game.

Eventually, the group admitted they were transporting the games to the mainland as part of a smuggling job planned by another student – who would reward them for their service.
Reports have so far failed to explain how the women obtained the disks a day before the April 12 launch of the Chinese version of Dark Souls III, reports ejinsight, but they have stated that this is not the first time some of the women had smuggled goods into the mainland.
Shenzhen customs are warning the public that smuggling goods from Hong Kong is not worth the small (or in the case of drugs – large) monetary gain, as sever punishment will be handed to those caught trafficking products and illicit goods across the border.
Dark Souls III retails at HKD458 and is a role-playing video game created by FromSoftware and published by Manco Bandai Games.
