Are you as tired as we are of getting those annoying telemarketer phone calls? Yes? Well then, dear reader, we have some good news for you, as they may be on the way out.
Shenzhen has launched a crack-down on telecom and online fraud, according to Shenzhen Daily. Fishy QQ and WeChat accounts will be monitored as well – so watch your WeChat lingo!
The operation was launched in August of 2015, and will continue till the end of 2016. The city police have also implemented procedures to take control of suspicious bank accounts believed to be associated with telecom fraud, according to reports.
Accounts requiring police intervention are determined based on bank data analysis and, once identified, incoming transfers will be delayed.

“Commercial banks are required to step up supervision on involved accounts and terminate money transfers above RMB10,000 (USD1,536) into or out of these accounts,” Deputy Head of the Municipal Public Security Bureau Su Zhenwei told Shenzhen Daily.
As stated above, Shenzhen’s Internet will be getting increased supervision as well, with the government requiring real name and IP address registration for broadband Internet users in soon-to-be-launched pilot areas.
“The new practice will be introduced in pilot areas by September 30,” said Su. “It will be expanded to the whole city before the end of this year.”
The bureau will block stolen QQ and WeChat accounts from being used by swindlers through an interception system – a system that will also shut down accounts using ‘fraud-related’ keywords. The exact list of words that will fall under the fraud-related category has not been specified.
