About Tristram Hunt
Dr Tristram Hunt has been Director of the V&A since February 2017. Formerly the UK Member of Parliament for Stoke-on-Trent Central, he served as the Labour Party’s Shadow Secretary of State for Education. He is the author of several books, most recently Ten Cities That Made an Empire (2014).
Summary of the lecture
Dr Tristram Hunt is director of the V&A(The Victoria and Albert Museum). During this talk, he’ll explore the Museum’s global story, from its foundations in the 1851 Great Exhibition - the first international exhibition of design and manufacture - to the new V&A Gallery at Design Society. The V&A’s founding commitment to design, education and industry frames these global conversations, and continues to define the Museum’s local, national and international purpose today.
