Soundbites are pieces of food and drink related news and gossip to aid your digestion of the Shanghai dining scene.

Ok who wants pizza today? The new, colorfully renovated PizzaExpress (formerly Pizza Marzano) at Surpass Court on Yongjia Lu is throwing down a pretty generous coupon promotion to celebrate their fresh new look.

From now until March 31, spend RMB50, and they’ll throw a RMB50 voucher right back at you, valid for your next visit. That’s essentially a free second meal, with the more you spend, the more you get.

PizzaExpress’ menu features a range of starters such as classic bruschetta and (our personal favorite) baked dough balls with garlic butter, pastas like farfalle con salsiccia (with fennel chilli sausage, white wine & cream sauce, chili and rosemary) Bolognese lasagna, and a wide range of Neapolitan and Romana pizzas.

Prices come in at around RMB80-150 per person, excluding alcohol.

Promotion only valid at PizzaExpress Surpass Court. Find the address here.
