Art Breaker is news, gossip and inside info from Shanghai's burgeoning arts and music scene.

The fifth edition of the Brapeq Film Festival kicks off tonight with opening night cocktails at El Ocho, followed by a weekend of screenings of some of Brazil's finest recent films. Two documentaries immediately stand out. City of God: 10 Years Later catches up with the stars of the gangster classic, with some of the ensemble cast going off to success while others struggle in the present day. Massive stars Ronaldo and Neymar recount their rise from poverty to global sports heroes in Pelada: Futebol in the Favella, which traces the sport's connection to favellas with a searing soundtrack of Samba, funk and Brazilian rap. However, there's a strong program of films showing at Fudan University (Dec 5) and The Pearl (Dec 6). Tickets are RMB50 and more information can be found at the Brapeq Film Festival website.
