Oct 15-Oct 19: Oktoberfest at Paulaner Raffles City Changning

Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai once again brings the popular beer and food festival to Shanghai along with freshly brewed Paulaner Festbier, hearty Bavarian delicacies and a band from the original Oktoberfest in Munich. You'll want to book Oktoberfest packages early if you have a group of six or more.

Oct 16: Stone Beer University

Alright, beer nerds, it's time for an epic West Coast versus East Coast throwdown to discover which side of the US brews the tastiest beers. Since this is Stone Beer University, you will learn to evaluate a transnational selection of American IPAs based on brewing styles, flavor, mouthfeel and ingredients. There will be six distinctive beers to taste as you decide which coast reigns supreme.

Oct 16: Guest Bartender at Kartel

This Wednesday, Kartel is honored to have a special guest from Germany. Andreas is a renowned mixologist, bartender, spirit and champagne educator, bartender trainer in Germany and Lebanon.
He works with brands like Campari Germany, Campari Academy, Beefeater Gin, Moet Hennesey, Jagermiester, Glenfiddich, Perrier Jouet and many others. He also puts on events, develops bar equipment and manages three bars Munchen! Andreas is one of the six Campari Read Hands this year, so go taste his signature cocktail at Kartel.

Oct 18: Friday Double Bubbles

Every Friday from 5-9pm, Heritage by Madison presents 'Friday Double Bubbles.' What does that mean? Well, it means that all Champagne orders – by the glass or bottle – are buy-one-get-one-free. That includes champagne cocktails (peach & ginger bellini, Aperol Spritz, French fizz) too. It's okay to mix and match cocktails; the lowest priced one is free. And if those bubbles whet your appetite, don't worry, Heritage has some of the best eats in town.

Oct 18: Shanghai Sunrise Charity Quiz

There a special charity quiz raising funds for Shanghai Sunrise taking place on October 18 at The Camel. Started in 1996, Shanghai Sunrise is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by raising funds for educational scholarships for underprivileged and at-risk young people
RMB150 gets you entry to the quiz along with fish & chips, chicken parma or pesto pasta, plus a drink. As always, there will be great prizes on offer, as well as a raffle to raise money for a very worthy cause. And if all that is not enough, it will be happy hour for the duration of the quiz!

Oct 18-19: Shanghai's 1st Fiduea Contest

La Maruja de Shanghai proudly presents Shanghai's first fideuá contest with Chef Angel Nieto from Amadeo restaurant and winner of the 45th International Fideuà de Gandía (Spanish short noodles seafood paella). Find out if Shanghai's best chefs can cook up an authentic fideuà. Fideuà de Gandía Master Class.
Festivities kick off on Friday with a free fideuá masterclass for friends and members of the public. Learn how to cook three authentic recipes from the Gandía master Chef Angel Nieto.
Saturday is the day of the fideuá competition. Your entrance fee includes five RMB20 tickets redeemable for food and drinks. Wines from Valencia are provided by Le Sommelier, and the tapas are from La Maruja.

Chef Jeremy Austin (former Oysterlicious Group chef) is back in town for a three-day pop-up at Plump Garden. Entitled 'North,' Jeremy pays homage to his homeland Canada with a 12-course interpretation of the cuisines and cultures found in the cold climate of this northernly country.

Oct 19: Bubba’s 7th Annual Barbecue Cook-Off

Calling all barbecue fans in Shanghai! Bubba’s 7th Annual Barbecue Cook-Off is right around the corner. Head on over to Sam’s Club Qingpu on October 19 to celebrate all things meat. Some of Shanghai’s top barbecue chefs will go head to head for top honors across a number of barbecue categories: Best Sausage, Best Chicken, Best Pork Ribs, Best Beef and Best Pulled/Chopped Meat.

Until Oct 31: We are Turning Japanese

Little Creatures (Australia) and Hitachino Nest (Japan) have come together to brew a collaborative IPA that brings together Japanese Sorachi Ace hops and Australian Melba hops to deliver a sessionable beer with a hop driven, fruity character that they have called Tsubasa IPA.
This very limited release brew is available at Little Creatures Brewers Lab for just one month starting from October 1. The Little Creatures kitchen is also turning Japanese with a new menu of Japanese beer-drinking snacks to pair with the beer.
