Oct 15: Nothing

Hailing from the often rowdy city of Philadelphia, Nothing is the creation of band leader Dominic Palermo, a legend in the city’s underground scene. Palermo has had some well-documented struggles over the years, but his commitment to his craft has attracted a variety of fans, albeit with the band going through multiple line up changes. 2018’s Dance on the Blacktop received critical acclaim on its release, with tracks on the album described as gorgeously surreal and ethereal.

Oct 17, 19-20: Moulin Dream Immersive Cabaret Theater

Moulin Rouge. The roaring ’20s of old Shanghai. Dream Of The Red Chamber, Cao Xueqin’s masterpiece, one of China's four great classical novels. These are the swirling and smoky realms that inspire the one you will step into at The Pearl this weekend. Twenty four cast members, spectacular dance numbers, classic and contemporary musical hits, and close-up interactive theater are all on hand to tease your senses.

Oct 18: Shanghai Sunrise Charity Quiz

There a special charity quiz raising funds for Shanghai Sunrise taking place on October 18 at The Camel. Started in 1996, Shanghai Sunrise is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by raising funds for educational scholarships for underprivileged and at-risk young people
RMB150 gets you entry to the quiz along with fish & chips, chicken parma or pesto pasta, plus a drink. As always, there will be great prizes on offer, as well as a raffle to raise money for a very worthy cause. And if all that is not enough, it will be happy hour for the duration of the quiz!

Oct 18: Inspirative

Guitarist Noppanan Panicharoen has been rocking out under the moniker Inspirative since 2006. Initially a solo project, Inspirative became a fully fledged band in 2008 and have since gone on to gain a following around the world for their inspired post rock tracks.
Despite the obvious limitations of rocking out in an EDM and hip hop loving country, fearless internet users quickly discovered the charms of Inspirative and their slow-burning, soaring guitar-driven music.

Oct 18: Glow Curve Album Release Tour

Excellent Beijing experimental instrumental rock band Glow Curve arrive at Yuyintang this week for a gig in support of their latest album release, Invisible History. This album has long been highly-anticipated by fans of the band’s amazing live sound, with live music junkies keen to find out what the constantly evolving group have come up with this time around.

Feeling fancy this spooky season? Forgo your favorite dead presidents mask in favor of something a little more elegant this October. MasquerArt is back for its second year, taking place on October 19 at Fun Bar.
Combining great food, live painting by artists Bonnie Guo and Alina Levyz, masks, music by DJ ALEPA¥ and dancers, MasquerArt aims to bring together curious, philosophical and creative minds.

Oct 19: Bubba’s 7th Annual Barbecue Cook-Off

Calling all barbecue fans in Shanghai! Bubba’s 7th Annual Barbecue Cook-Off is right around the corner. Head on over to Sam’s Club Qingpu on October 19 to celebrate all things meat. We really, really, really, really, really, really like Carly Rae Jepsen and we are delighted to announce that tickets to her shows in Shanghai are now on sale over on our thMart platform. The singer, who is best-known for tracks like ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘I Really Like You’, will be playing for two nights at Bandai Namco Shanghai Base on October 20 and 21. Until Jan 5: Bob Dylan Retrospectrum

Sure, Bob Dylan is a Nobel Prize winning writer, poet and lyricist, but his lesser known creative endeavors include painting with oil, acrylic and watercolor, and even include ironwork sculpture. Modern Art Museum, god bless their souls, have collected more than 250 of Dylan’s works spanning over 40 years to Shanghai this weekend. Dylan’s early ink experiments will show alongside the likes of works from Mondo Scripto sketches. Enjoy this fascinating insight into the creative polymath's works until January next year.
