The China International Furniture Expo (Furniture China 2019) is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. Until September 12 the event will welcome more than 160,000 visitors and 3,500 exhibitors. Furniture China is being held alongside Maison Shanghai. Together the events are expected to achieve new heights in terms of exhibit range, visitor quality and digital reach.

About the Show

With a combined area of 350,000 square meters across two venues, SNIEC (for Furniture China) and SWEECC (for Maison Shanghai), both mega events are aiming to improve buyers’ sourcing experience and meet distinct market needs.

Furniture China and its co-located events Furniture Manufacturing & Supply China (FMC) and FMC Premium (FMP) will feature a wide range of furniture: contemporary, upholstered and classic styles, tables and chairs, outdoor furniture, manufacturing raw materials, fabric, furniture hardware, leather and upholstery components.

Maison Shanghai, which is held in SWEECC, is positioned as a design-driven trade show that embraces home decoration, lighting, carpets, rugs, florals, fragrance, arts and crafts, tableware, home furnishing accessories and designer works.

Brands and Exhibitors

Altogether, over 3,500 brands will exhibit at Furniture China and Maison Shanghai. The distinctive designs of contemporary furniture from Europe and North America are highly popular among local consumers and professional purchasers. More than 220 brands from 29 countries choose Furniture China as their partner when entering China’s furniture market, including Actona, Verdon, FERMOB, GAUTIER, Ashley, GIESSEGI, COMMUNE, Maria Yee, HANSK and Ligne ROSET.

Local Chinese brands such as KUKA, Expo CASA, Pengxiang, Qiaojia Decorative Materials, Yulong will also bring their new products to the show. On the other hand, the Contemporary Furniture Hall, Design Furniture Hall and the thematic zone Design of Designers at Maison Shanghai will gather 175 original and independent designer brands to represent the strongest voice of contemporary Chinese furniture and décor.

Furniture Manufacturing & Supply China (FMC) will shortlist more than 730 leading suppliers and manufacturers who own independent intellectual property rights and have strong innovation capabilities. As the premium edition of FMC, FMC Premium (FMP) will bring more than 200 top-notch exhibitors that offer high quality material and original design capabilities.

A Dialogue for Design

With the global design community’s growing interest in contemporary Chinese style, Maison Shanghai will seek to create a dialogue. As one of the major events at Maison Shanghai, 'History and Future' celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus College. Visitors will walk through the Bauhaus history starting from the origins of Old Shanghai Style to contemporary Chinese design. Some of Bauhaus' best-known works will be displayed to showcase their unique design and production process.

Peter & Charlotte Fiell, the co-authors of 1000 Chairs, will release their new book, Contemporary Chinese Furniture Design – A New Wave of Creativity. The book seeks to explore the evolution of contemporary Chinese design in furniture and establish the importance of Chinese culture in cultivating design diversity. Some 50 artworks introduced in book will be brought on-site for display.

Creating customized and personalized design which resonates with social and residential problems has been a trending topic in the interior design and furnishing community. Hence, this year’s HOME PLUS at Maison Shanghai will explore innovative space design solutions for seven community issues. Seven booths will be exhibited to provide inspiration for modern and innovative living solutions.

The COLOR OF FURNITURE will be back again under the theme Boundaryless Color. The interactive display will experiment with the possibilities of color in home design and investigate new color trends for the Chinese furniture industry in the next few years.

Muse in Décor is an immersive showcase of fabric, glass and other raw materials being applied in living spaces. Related forums will focus on new technologies in furniture manufacturing. R.E.Design will gather five enterprises and 11 designers to exhibit their creative ideas in re-interpreting raw materials on flat panels.

Growing Online Businesses and Online Communities

This year, Furniture China has launched JJGLE EZBUY, an online B2B sourcing platform to connect over 300 Chinese quality suppliers and business traders. Empowered by JJGLE.com, this new platform provides a cost effective e-commerce solution for the home and interior marketplace. Suppliers can use this tool to find the right customers and vice versa. The mobile app is now available in app stores.

Another initiative, the Maison Business School, has been launched on WeChat in February to educate the public about the latest trends of interior design. The project will also be extended at Maison Shanghai with over 20 scholars and industry professionals giving lectures digital applications in the furniture industry, customized design, consumer behavior and more.

Honoring Industry Achievements

The Gold Idea Design Award and the China Furniture Product Innovation Awards will continue to take place, whereas two new awards programs will be launched. The Design Material Award is specifically created to reward exhibitors for introducing new materials, processes and technologies. The JINCHI PRIZ, on the other hand, aims to discover new special projects and elites in interior design. Additionally, the Green Booth Construction Awards will be back rewarding exhibitors for their efficient usage of recyclable materials for their stands.

Furniture China will take place from September 9-12 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. At the same time, Maison Shanghai will be held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center
