June 12-16: CATS

CATS is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. Since its premiere, it has been presented in over 30 countries, translated into 15 languages and seen by over 73 million people worldwide. And in June it's headed right here to Shanghai. The event will take place at Shanghai Culture Square on June 9 and 11-16 (times vary).

June 13: Maki Ohguro

Japanese singer and songwriter Maki Ohguro is all set to perform in Shanghai in June. Maki got her start in the music industry in 1989 as a backup singer for a whole slew of famous artists. But two years into her career, she started writing her own songs and it's all been uphill from there. You can see the pop singer in Shanghai on June 13 at Bandai Namco Shanghai Base Dream Hall

Jun 13: Fujiya & Miyagi

Brighton band Fujiya & Miyagi return to China for a tour in the immediate aftermath of the release of their new album, Flashback. With that record set to drop on May 31, Chinese-based fans of the band can expect to hear the new tracks, as well as old favorites off of albums like Transparent Things

Jun 14: Glenn Wool: Stand Up Comedy Live In Shanghai

Renowned stand-up comedian Glenn Wool is coming to Shanghai to perform with the Shanghai Comedy Bunker at Cages Bar on June 14. Glenn began his comedy career in his hometown of Vancouver in 1995. He moved to London in 1998 and quickly became an established star of the London comedy circuit before becoming a globally recognized name.

Jun 14: Schoolgirl Byebye

On the back of their 2018 album release, No Romantics in China, Schoolgirl Byebye are finally heading out on a national tour. The dreamy indie pop band will be teaming up with a host of awesome acts, including Dirty Fingers’ guitarist Yan Xiaohai’s new band in Shanghai. Catch ’em while you can.

Roy Purdy’s throwback Saved By the Bell style is both bold and attractive. The viral star tends towards rap, but is also known for being an entertainment polymath. In his own words “I make music and do weird stuff.” If you, like us, enjoy weird stuff, hit up Modern Sky Lab this weekend.

This interesting group of experimental musicians come from various parts of Asia. With the four members collaborating on tours and music expositions in China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore, Fen have managed to establish a cohesive network. Catch these improvisational musicians perform in Shanghai this month.
