Although the mercury didn’t come anywhere near the 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit) that was mistakenly predicted on Sunday, the weather did give those of us living in Shanghai a tiny taste of summer. But it’s not summer yet. Not only have we already seen a drop in temperature but rain is also in the forecast this week, reports Shine.

The sudden rain shower yesterday afternoon took many locals by surprise. In case you didn’t notice, this is the first rain we’ve seen this month. The first 12 days of May were hot and sunny. The lack of rain from May 1 to May 12 even broke the record for the least precipitation during that period. According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, the last record was set in 1933 when the city received a mere 0.7 millimeters of precipitation.

Expect rainy conditions and sporadic thunderstorms from tomorrow through Friday. While it’s not expected to rain over the weekend, it will remain cloudy until Monday.

The good news is that the warm sunny weather will make a comeback next week. That being said, don’t rush to take your summer clothes out of your closet yet, as the temperature will max out at 27 degrees Celsius (80.6 degrees Fahrenheit) next week. Here’s a glimpse of the weather for the following days:

The humid climate lately reminds many people of the plum rain season, but the season won’t arrive anytime soon. “The current weather still won’t meet the condition needed,“ explained one staff from the bureau. ”Shanghai usually welcomes the plum rain season in mid-June.“
