May 2: Mau Mau vs. Heatwolves

Baijiu Robot is back in action! What happens when the powers of Yoshi have combined with three kinds of baijiu, Jackie Chan, Wang Wang snacks, CDJs, Liqun cigs and a Volkswagen Santana? Let's find out! Ten years on, Heatwolves (Love Bang, Hologram Dreams, Baijiu Robot) and Mau Mau (Elevator, Medusa, Baijiu Robot) rejoin forces for a holiday evening of bangers. From acid classics to italo, broken techno and percussive club tracks, expect heady blends and a lot of dancefloor sweat.

May 2: Boiler Room Shanghai

Boiler Room is back in action after a sad, but necessary, hiatus! Whoopee! On Thursday May 2, they'll be linking us to the Western world for an epic night of underground music in the first event in a very welcome return.

May 3: Popasuda and Triplet

The Shanghai favorite for dancehall is joined by 4y-year-old, Berlin-based Afro-dancehall artist Triplet this holiday. He's worked on productions and remixes with the likes of Walshy Fire from Major Lazer, Ayo Jay, Timaya and Edanos from Nigeria, Rashelle Blue from Ghana, Latifah from the Netherlands, Aidonia and Agent Sasco from Jamaica, so expect a night of global sounds and eclectic bass.

May 3: Kiko Navarro

Bar Rouge Shanghai welcomes acclaimed Balearic DJ and Producer Kiko Navarro on Friday May 3. He is one of the most influential personalities into the characteristically groovy tunes that make Pacha Ibiza a famous destination for party-goers all over the world. Expect a set full of irresistibly contagious rhythms and sensual grooves with elements from afro and latin to disco music.

May 3: Do Hits 8th Anniversary Party

Since they formed in 2011, electronic music collective Do Hits have seen their influence spread from their hometown of Beijing to across China. With monthly club nights, electronic music publishing and a unique visual identity, their 8th-anniversary party promises to be the culmination of their work to date, with live AV sets from Howie Lee and Teom Chen, Jason Hou and Miao Jing alongside Alex Wang and Chillchill.

Grab your favorite friendo for a night of feels and fun - Amber Akilla is bringing through a whole bunch of bad ass babes putting on everything from hip hop and R&B to k-pop and house. Because buds come first.

May 3-4: The Live Mixtape

Ever wonder what would happen if a top DJ directed a full concert with a live band. Well wonder no more! SMTH, Music Director of ASL Shanghai, is doing just that using SHAKE's six-piece band The Shanghai Sheiks and Courtney Knott. Expect wild tempo changes, vocals swapped over instrumentals, extended breaks, medleys and dance-floor madness. Expect a live blend of contemporary hip hop and r&b and classic funk and soul. Expect that, well, anything can happen! Except DJing. There will be no actual DJing.

May 4: Multiple Shades

‘Multiple Shades’ returns to Dada, in an epic combination of DJs Jode, Cice and Jeff Chong. They'll be bringing you house music from across the spectrum that will swerve from deep to tech, Chicago to UK bass and beyond.

May 4: Skrillex

DJ, producer and Grammy award winner Skrillex is headed back to Shanghai. The former lead singer of screamo band From First to Last hits Shanghai a few times a year, so catch him on his first round at the rowdy ass club over in Found 158.

May 5: Cinco De Mayo

Nightlife, day life, here's a reason for you to party on the 5th! Cinco de Mayo is here and there are too many events to put in this list so we made another one just for the holiday! Some are more tequila filled than others, but if nothing else, you've got a great excuse to go eat some Mexican food and celebrate the country's 1865 victory in the Battle of Puebla (not Independence Day - that's in September).
