May 1-3: Labor Day Holiday All-day Brunch at Stone

May 1-5: Five Days of Brunch

It's May Holiday, so why not long, leisurely Brunch at The Bull & Claw, El Santo, D.O.C or Hooked? All your favorite brunch options including drinks will be available throughout the holiday, for five whole days. If you want to get started early, The Bull & Claw will from 10am on Saturday and Sunday. And, of course, there will be free flow if you choose.

May 2: Egg Chef's Table x Simone Thompson

Chef Simone is back in Shanghai for her celebrated pop-up at EGG and this time the theme is slow food. That means time has been taken in the preparation – whether cured, marinated, pickled, fermented, braised or confited. As you take some time out from the busy lifestyle of Shanghai to enjoy dinner, remember to gently savor some of the culinary highlights, which include slow-cooked lamb shoulder with fermented chilies and fennel and 24-hour chicken curry with pickled chilies.

May 3-5: A Toast to Peace

The Peace Hotel is celebrating its 19th anniversary in August of this year, and award-winning mixologist Jacko Chang has been invited to create a cocktail list hailing back to the decades past. Chang's cocktail and food pairings (he was a chef before becoming a bartender) available on the Cathay Room terrace for three days.

Until May 4: Shanghai Disney's International Food and Drinks Fest 2019

The international brand bar-none is for the first time hosting a celebration of world cuisine between April and May this year. May 10-12: 2019 Shanghai Jing'an World Coffee Culture Festival

Coffee lovers rejoice! The Shanghai Jing'an World Coffee Culture Festival is headed back to town this summer. Expect to sample goods from the best coffee brands, snack on delectable desserts and creative dishes, shop for one-of-a-kind goods, groove to jazz and electronic music, marvel at art installations and listen to cultural talks. Oh, and drink lots of coffee while you're at it!

May 10-12: The 6th Editon of Beernanza

Beernanza! A three-day extravaganza dedicated to all things beer. This'll be the sixth time Bevex organizes Shanghai's biggest beer festival in the Okura Garden Hotel. It's a must for fans of the hoppy nectar. There'll be something like 150 different craft and premium beers from China and the world present, with 45 music groups playing across three live music stages, and a bunch of prizes to win at games and competitions. Plus chances to brew your own beer (details below) and the Bear Olympics, hosted by the giant stuffed bears running around during the event.

May 10-12: Mixnanza

If you’re a cocktail aficionado – or just someone who likes to imbibe – then Mixnanza (held simultaneously with Beernanza) is for you. During this year’s fest, some of Shanghai’s best bartenders will be shaking and stirring over 100 different types of drinks for festivalgoers. The three-day festival will take place outdoors in the gorgeous park. Drinks aside, there will be 45 live musicians and DJs performing on three different stages all weekend long. Expect everything from tropical Latino music, hip-hop, reggae, EDM and more.

May 1-31: Rum Hunt | The Grove's Fascination

The Grove distillery was originally set up as a wine estate until the two fraternal founders realised that Western Australia had the perfect climate for producing rum, their most-loved tipple. Focusing on small-batch production over quantity, the quality of their spirits is surely discernible in Cloud 9’s aromatic cocktails, only RMB88 for the whole of May.
