Christian Berishaj signed with Universal Motown back in 2008, and while heís no longer with the label, when listening to his new album Velvet, you can still hear the distinct funk that brought him there. R&B through and through, his soul-laden tracks will have you grooviní in no time. Having opened for Kendrick Lamar and garnering praise from industry legend like Usher, heís more than earned his stripes and is gracing Yuyintang for an emotional show this month (another sold-out one, but there's always hope!).

During their history of more than thirty-five years, the Shanghai Quartet has become one of the world's foremost chamber ensembles. Their recital features three pieces in completely different styles, the most noteworth perhaps being Tan Dun's early work 'Feng Ya Song'. Composed in 1983, it won the first composition prize for a Chinese composer after 1949 and is considered a milestone in the history of modern Chinese music.

Taking influence from The Velvet Underground and Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Manchester founded band's take on old school psychedelic rock is one to be reckoned with. Their moody, raw post-punk has sold-out shows across Europe, putting on a performance that would fit right in on a Woodstock stage. And this one you can still buy tickets for!

Mar 17, 8.30pm, RMB120 pre-sale, RMB150 door. Bandai Namco Shanghai Base, see event listingbuy tickets.
