That's Shanghai takes a look at the best events on this weekend:
Mar 7: Utopian Beach-Disco on Fire

Come together with your bestest buds for a night of peaceful house and disco brought to you by Bronz. This community combining electronic music and visual art are goin' for full on utopian vibes - unclear whether or not there will be a dancing banana (surf board?) there.
Mar 7, 10pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Mar 8: Hooked and El Santo's 2nd Birthday
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
In what seems like the blink of an eye, Found 158 favorites El Santo and Hooked are turning two years old. They may sound like a baby bandito fisherman but we all know better, their pasts are littered with many wild adult nights and crazy mornings. Rest assured, this Friday, 8th March will be no different. House DJs start rocking from 8pm ‘til late, while Eduardo & Hardeep (the coolest chefs in Shanghai) will be smashing it on the dance floor. There will be drinks and food deals galore so mark it down in your calendar as this is the night that they will be talking about until next year’s party.
Mar 8, 6pm, no cover. Hooked and El Santo Tacos & Tequila, see event listing.
Mar 8: Habibi Funk
Flyer courtesy of Dada
DJ Jannis of Jakarta Records is back in town for a night of retro-influenced Arabic music. It's gonna be psychadelic. It's gonna be funky. It's gonna be fun.
Mar 8, 9pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Mar 8: Asian Vibes Pres. MELANIA
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
Polish DJ MELANIA is kicking off Asian Vibes' first party of 2019. From London to Berlin, this techno girl's hit all the genre touchstones - now she's putting on a late set at Found's newest club (we've said it before, but their sound system looks like a frickin' rocketship).
Mar 8, 10pm, RMB80 pre-sale, RMB100 door. 44KW, see event listing.
Mar 8: Techno Is A Woman
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
Techno Is A Woman is back, and just in time for Women's Day. They've lined up a girl power heavy set so get ready to rave in the name of all things female.
Mar 8, 11pm, RMB80 pre-sale, RMB120 door. Celia Club, see event listing, buy tickets.
Mar 9: 90s Mojito
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
Have you heard of the Mojito Man? (Seriously, the hyperlink is a very thoughtful read from our BJ team.) Well, if not, he used to lurk around Sanlitun up in Beijing and sell cheap sugary drinks to the masses. He's opened up (and subsequetly moved) a shop down here and they're doin' a five hour set of 90s music. Plus, it's RMB90 for four mojitos. FOUR. THAT'S WILD.
Mar 7, 9pm, RMB90 for four mojitos. Mojitoman, see event listing.
Mar 9: Mari Ferrari
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
If you've ever been to an Ed Hardy fashion show (and really, who hasn't), then you might've heard Mari Ferrari. Electronic beats (think Euro pop) meet emotive vocals in an act that's taken her to clubs all over the world (give her a listen on Spotify, she's pretty cool). Lots of dancing. Much wow.
Mar 9, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.
Mar 10: AV Party Vol.02
This audio-visual performance in the insane black box housed in People's Square is going to be super extra. With a revolving stage, four projection screens and an insane line-up of Wang Wenwei, Wang Meng + Yu Miao, nenghuo and more, it's bound to be unlike anything you've seen before (unless you went to the first AV Party). It's seated, strict on time and the first two performances are already sold out, so best to get your tickets early as there aren't likely to be any at the door.
Mar 10, 8.30pm, RMB120 pre-sale, RMB150 door. Changjiang Theater, see event listing.
