In our monthly series 'Getting Moderately Deep With... ' we ask a food vendor tough questions. Well, sort-of tough.
This month we meet Mr. Xue, who works behind the bar at a Cantonese restaurant.
What is your idea of the perfect day?
Ah, that's simple! When there's no work! [laughs]
What's the first thing you thought when you woke up this morning?
To check the time and wash my face, of course.
Who is your best customer?
I guess I don't have my own customers. This is because I work behind the bar counter and I don't usually get the chance to interact with the eaters here.
Which living person do you most admire?
My father for sure – he raised me.
When and where were you happiest?
Today, because I was interviewed!
Which talent would you most like to have?
I guess the skill to slay at basketball, because I think it would be relaxing and refreshing if I could just win every game.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I used to get really good grades when I was really young. [laughs]
If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
I think I'd want to go to school. I mean, I don't like studying when I'm studying, but I somehow miss the idea of it when I'm not.
What is your most treasured possession?
My house!
What trait do you most value in a person?
Morals. I find it very hard to even communicate with those with no morals.
What is it that you most dislike?
People who talk behind others’ backs.
What is your motto?
I don't have any of my own mottos.
What always makes you laugh?
When I get to see my family and friends. They make me happy and laugh.
Who is your hero?
My grandpa because he was in the army. I aspire to be in the army. I think it can change so many aspects of my life, like the way I think.
