On December 6, a dazzling tree lighting ceremony marked the debut of the “Time is Love, Time is Now” festive season at Shanghai Jing An Kerry Centre’s south plaza. As the leader of urban fashion, Jing An Kerry is hosting Christmas celebrations and activities as well as putting up decorations that light up every corner of Kerry with music and love.
It took seven weeks and 270,000 red LED lights to make Jing An Kerry’s 20-meter tall Christmas tree come to life. The star on the top of the tree represents Polaris, a symbol of love and hope. It is the perfect Christmas scene to pass on happiness and good wishes this holiday season.
Different from past lighting ceremonies, this year’s event is all about love over the course of time. Led by high-end sports and leisure brand Lululemon, up to 100 people took part in ‘Space Moves’ performance that was filled with dazzling lights and dynamic music.
After that, the highly anticipated tree lighting ceremony kicked off. The 20-meter-tall Time Is Love Christmas tree was gradually lit up with the melody of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music orchestra in the background. Families and friends gathered around for the magical moment.
In addition, the grandness of Anyi Road, which was lit up for the first time in 2017, was taken to the next level this year. The nearly 100-meter-long city street is now decorated with giant neon arches, forming a fluorescent tunnel of light and shadows. In addition, visitors can check out the floral installation ‘Stream Wave,’ which is filled with trees and Christmas decorations.
Together with Tory Burch, Jing An Kerry even went so far as to build a gigantic interactive Christmas world called Wonder Planet Daydreaming Teen. The collaboration was unveiled to the public on December 2. Among the attendees was popular Chinese actress Lareina Song.
The planet is about 5-meters tall and covers roughly 45 square meters. The rotatable golden ring circling the planet represents an asteroid belt. The light inside the planet resembles how the Milky Way sparkles in the night sky. While enjoying the view, guests can also interact with its fun video device.
With the hustle and bustle of city life, it’s easy to get distracted from loving and caring about those who are nearest and dearest to you. The holidays are all about slowing down and enjoying time with loved ones. By ingeniously combining commercial space, business features and artistic scenes, Jing An Kerry is going all out to make sure this holiday season is filled with fun, food and art.
Jointly presented by well-known cross-media artist Gu Benchi, Irish new media artist David Keohane, and cutting-edge glass and ceramic artist Qin Ling, a public art installation exhibition with the theme Time is Love, Time is Now was unveiled to the public on December 2.
Jing An Kerry is also collaborating with Starbucks Chilled Cup to offer guests a special ‘Chilled Cup Starry Stop.’ This is a place where customers can write down their thoughts of gratitude on festive postcards while sipping on a delicious cup of coffee. The Chilled Cup Starry Stop will be open during limited hours until December 16.
Space NK, a brand from the UK, has built a huge Christmas tree in Jing An Kerry, which was inspired by the Christmas tradition of the Advent Calendar and ‘The Beauty Wish List’ festival theme. It also created limited modern and elegant Christmas gift boxes with traditional colors of red, green, and golden. Not only can you decorate the festival with these boxes, but you can also send out your sincere wishes to your loved ones and create an unforgettable holiday memory.
Starting December 14, Jing An Kerry will not only launch a Christmas gourmet fair full of traditional and authentic delicacies from all over the world but they’ll also present many festive band performances inside and outside its shopping mall so that each consumer can get into the spirit of the season.
On December 31, Jing An Kerry’s Unique New Year’s Eve will bring a truly unique experience through a variety of music playing all around the mall. In addition, Jing An Kerry Centre will launch a limited-time themed product and have limited offers to create a special shopping experience for costumers.
