That's Shanghai takes a look at the best nightlife events on this weekend.

Nov 22: Xia

After the wicked turnout and huge response of the first one, Dada is welcoming another Shanghai legend Roo to the lineup. For his appearance at Xia, Roo will delve into his more ambient choonage; expect a deep and driving journey through liquid drum and bass, chill step and halftime bass.

Nov 22, 9pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.

Nov 23: Alter. x Jacques Greene

House and RnB? Yes please. DJ Jacques Greene has been called out by Pitchfork, making their list of "Songs of the Decade" with the track 'Another Girl'. Mau Mau and Will A are there for support in what's looking to be a solid night of d-d-d-dance. Per usual, you've got to message the WeChat account for the location. *it's a secret*

Nov 23, 10pm, RMB80 pre sale, RMB120 door. Secret Location, see event listing.

Nov 23: Epizod3 Pre-Party

What?! Celia's open before midnight? But why? How? Well, the reason is just as strange as the occurence itself - they're having a pre-party for a music festival...in Vietnam. Guests that arrive before 1am have a chance to win tickets to the festival though, so that's cool! Don't worry, they're still running late.

Nov 23, 10pm, RMB80 pre sale, RMB100 door. Celia, see event listing, buy tickets.

Nov 23: Kasra

Oh shit! ALL finally uploaded an event to our site! Hell yeah! Honeslty, we'd be excited to push nearly anything on at this spot, but this weekend it's especially easy to because Sweatshop returns after a 10-month-hiatus with the man behind Critical Music - one of the most current and relevant drum & bass labels produing atm. Locked in to join Kasra are Sweatshop residents Arkaik and Fractale, long-time co-conspirator Resinate, and a special guest from the south Daniel Power. Tight.

Nov 23, 10.30pm, RMB80 before midnight, RMB100 after. All Club, see event listing.

Nov 23: Hypnotic Groove at The Mansion

Play games, win stuff and dance at The Mansion while you still can. Don't forget you can BYOB and other fun things.

Nov 23, 10pm, RMB100 (gets you five drinks before 1am, 3 after 1am). The Mansion, see event listing.

Nov 23-24: Nu-Queens Saga

SHAKE keeps funkin' into the future, with a concert dedicated to the women pushing funk and soul steadily forward. The club's six-piece band and guest singers interpret the music of Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone and more at this show and dance party. Supper club vibes from 6pm; live music from 10.30pm. Futuristic nu-attire encouraged.

Nov 23-24, 10.30pm, RMB80. Shake, see event listing.

Nov 24: Closing Celebration at Bar Rouge

No no, it's not what you think. The red-lit bar is not closing its doors, just wrapping up it's 14th anniversary with a final blow out party. Someone call Drake 'cause there's gonna be a champagne shower rainin' down.

Nov 24, 10pm, no cover, reservation recommended. Bar Rouge, see event listing.

Nov 24: China Social Club

Hyph11E is joining China Social Club's Frau and PCJ at Dada this Saturday for a night of house, techno and acid music. Cool, cool, cool.

Nov 24, 10pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.

Nov 24: Brooke Candy

Alright, we were going to write our own pitch for her, but Spotify kind of went over the top. "Waging all-out war against conventions, expectations and anything else in her path, Los Angeles hardcore pop iconoclast Brooke Candy trumpets a call-toarms weaponized by an indistrial barrage, hip-hop bravado and bloodthirsty punk recklessness on her 2018 independent EP, Who Cares. Like a byproduct of a one-night stand between Al Jourgensen and Kathleen Hanna, she carries a tradition of social sabotage on her own terms." She's produced tracks with Mykki Blanco and Pussy Riot, so you know she means what she says.

Nov 24, 10pm, RMB100 pre sale, RMD120 door. Arkham, see event listing, buy tickets.

Nov 24: Riddim'N'Vibe

Old skool, drum and bass, writing on the walls and jungle sounds (it's a real genre of electronic music derived from breakbeat hardcore, don't worry) are on at C's this weekend. Get reggae with it.

Nov 24, 10pm, no cover. C's, see event listing.

Nov 24: Theque

After nine years in Shanghai, Lindberg is finally off for less polluted pastures. Come dance and drink to house and disco to wish him well on his next great adventure. As always, RSVP for entry.

Nov 24, 10pm, no cover. Electric Circus, see event listing.

Nov 24: Elevator Out Feat. DJ Dustin

Having trasitioned gracefully into pop-up mode, the Elevator team is taking over X-Space to bring you DJ Dustin, one of the founders of one of today's most influential record labels for a night of mind-bending, groove-heavy house and techno. Dustin runs Giegling, a label with one of the best stories in dance music. It started from four parties at a small student club which closed shortly after. Fast-forward to today, and they've become one of the core labels in dance music's deeper and more intricate shades (RA's #1 label of the year in 2014 and again in 2016), doing it simply through incredible parties and releases. Plus he's Mau Mau's favorite.

Nov 24, 11pm, RMB80 pre sale, RMB100 door. X-Space, see event listing.

Nov 25: NTS Radio Live

China Social Club curates a killer line up for Sunday's DJ session. Peng Zhuang, Gouachi, Tobias Patrick and the boys themselves will each play an hour-long set at one of the city's favore record shops, so swing on by and have a brew to see what it's all about.

Nov 25, 4pm, no cover. Uptown Records 'n' Beer, see event listing.
