That's Shanghai takes a look at the best art exhibitions of the week:
Takashi Murakami in Wonderland

While the Murakami exhibition at Lu One mall may have been fake, Perrotin's put on the real deal. You have to make a reservation on the gallery's website to come see the artist's first solo show in Chinese mainland, but with a few new large scale works on view, the free show is worth a little extra planning.
Until Jan 5, Perrotin Gallery.
Proregress: The 12th Shanghai Biennale

Ambivalence is a word that has come to mark a generation and an era, which is why it's become the theme for this year's Shanghai Biennale. Having opened last week, the exhibition includes a range of works of all sizes from artists all over the world. There's even a giant George Washington swing in the main hall.
Until Mar 10, Power Station of Art.
Korean Abstract Art: Kim Whanki and Dansaekhwa

For the first time in China the Powerlong Museum is hosting one of the most comprehensive collections of 20th century Korean abstract art. With over 100 works, the exhibition establishes a post-war narrative that continues through to this day, including artists like Kim Whanki, Park Seo-Bo, Kwon Young-Woo and several others.
Until March 2, Powerlong Museum.
GUCCI x Maurizio Cattelan: The Artist is Present

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan has partnered with Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, to bring a surreal collection of curated works to the Yuz Musem. Exploring how originality can be acheived through acts of repetition, the exhibition inspired by Marina Abromovic's 2010 live performance (as featured in the Jay Z music video for 'Picasso Baby' which, fun fact, revolves around a relatively interesting controversy that you should definitely look up) is runnning through to December.
Until Dec 16, RMB60, Yuz Museum.
Vacuum. Dry Land, Into the Room: NI ZHIQI Solo Exhibition

Presenting NI Zhiqi’s debut solo exhibition, the gallery is showcasing his mixed media paintings from the past two decades. Patterns, scribbles, dynamics, perception and play are all dominant in curated collection that includes recent works.
Nov 3 - Dec 3, Pearl Lam Galleries.
Another Way of Telling

Another way of telling is an open exhibition which showcases 100 works by Anna Fox and Karen Knorr, two UK leading documentary photographers, and there's only two days left to check it out. They critique society with wit and humor, exploring a range of subjects such as class, working environment, self awareness and the adoption of different perspectives.
Until Nov 18, Shanghai Center of Photography.
