Through Nov 30: Traditional Day of The Dead Pan de Muerto

El Santo presents the Mexican 'Dia De Muerto' or Day of the Dead. Not as ghoulish as it sounds, it is a holiday to honor dearly departed loved ones. Traditional foods pan de muerto (Mexican sweet bread) and atole (a corn-based hot beverage) are part of the celebrations and will be available at El Santo from October 25 to November 30. Portions are limited, and you must reserve at least one day in advance.

Oct 30-Nov 2: Jean-Georges is Back

Meet celebrity chef Jean-George Vongerichten at his eponymous One Michelin Star restaurant. He will also be cooking at Michelin Plate recognized Mercato. During this celebratory visit, Vongerichten will be adding seasonal dishes to both of his Shanghai venues' menus. If you are a fan of the food his Shanghai restaurants, you must visit while he's in the kitchen.

Oct 30-Nov 3: Candelaria Pop Up at The Ritz

In the run-up to the Day of the Dead, Parisian fixture of the Word's 50 Best Bars list, Candelaria is popping up at The Ritz. Their exclusive tequila and mezcal-based cocktails are supplying Shanghai with some Latin American flavor by way of France. Don't miss out on this exciting event!

Oct 31: Wine & The City's Sancerre vs Nelson Valley

Be your own judge during this friendly wine dinner. France with its Loire Valley's Sancerre and New Zealand's Nelson Valley are two of the go-to regions when you want to drink Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir. But do ou know which are your favorites? Are your taste buds more excited about a mineral-forward Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc or a fruitier New Zealand variety? Figure it out over five delicious courses with 20 other food and wine lovers at the iconic M on the Bund. Dress up because the party will roll straight into the M Glam 'Welcome to the Circus' event.

Oct 31: Noche de Halloween

Tomatito is bringing sexy back this Halloween with a Spanish twist. Expect pintxos,  house wines, beers and cocktails at the fair prices you have come to expect.  For a low-key Halloween, we vote Tomatito.

Oct 31: Halloween Special with Hannah Keirl

Do you know where to get your Halloween pre-drinks on? The search is over because the very talented Hannah Keirl is pouring some spooky cocktails featuring The Grove Distillery Rum and The West Winds Gin. Get 'Laowai Girl' wasted on a mouthwatering rum, spiced pumpkin syrup and whole egg concoction or keep it classy and have your martini shaken (or stirred), with an eyeball. It's Halloween, after all!

Oct 31-Nov 4: Pierre Gagnaire at Capella

Legendary chef Pierre Gagnaire is making a special appearance at Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li. The man behind the one Michelin-starred restaurant le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire, will present a range of traditional French dishes styled with his signature contemporary finesse during his guest appearance.

Chef Gagnaire is one of the world’s most lauded Michelin chefs and a celebrated French culinary icon. He was awarded 'Best Chef in the World 2015' by Le Chef magazine. le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire is Chef Gagnaire’s first restaurant in Chinese mainland Since its conception, he has personally nurtured a talented team to bring his vision to life.

Oct 31-Nov 4: Taco Truck Pop-Up

Alongside the Candelaria cocktail pop-up at the Portman Ritz Carlton, look forward to a live mariachi band plus Liquid Laundry taco trucks serving up your spicy favorites in the main square of the Shanghai Centre each afternoon from Wednesday through Saturday. There will be tasty palomas and frozen margaritas available too.

Nov 1: Ladies Who Drink Baijiu Masterclass

Every country is connected to a distinct alcoholic beverage: Mexico has tequila, in Russia it's vodka, Japan is synonymous with sake, and for China, it's baijiu (white spirit). Join the Ladies Who Drink for a special masterclass introducing the complex world of Chinese Spirits. Held at Healer Bar, Phoebe Han will lead you through six unique and flavourful Chinese spirits before finishing with a Baijiu Cocktail. Men and women are welcome but hurry because there are only 30 seats.

Nov 1: Vegan Chinese Cooking

Do you find it difficult to eat vegan in Shanghai? It doesn't have to be that way, because many great Chinese dishes are 100 percent whole food and plant-based. Local restaurants often add meat to dishes that should be all about the veggies, so join this class if you want to explore fresh local produce, tofu protein and Chinese spices. Afterward, you will have the skills to make enjoyable vegan delights every day.

Nov 2: Candelaria Day of the Dead Party

If you've been paying attention, you know that one of the World's 50 Best bars, Candelaria is doing a pop-up in Shanghai this week. The Mexico-via-Paris bar will also be throwing a Day of the Dead party with Olmeca Tequila featuring DJ sets, makeup artists and deadly delicious cocktails.

Nov 2: Murder Mystery Dinner Club

Who's the culprit? To solve the crime, you'd better high-tail it to un Caffé Bar on November 2. A murder took place, and it's up to you to find the killer... unless you ARE the killer! Dinner and snacks will give you energy while you solve the crime of the century. There will be clues, interrogations and awesome prizes for those sharp enough to catch the murderer. But book your place fast, because only 25 people are allowed per game! Dress up to enhance the mood.

Nov 3: Xime One Year Anniversary Celebration

Join XIME Japanese as they celebrate their one year anniversary with a bang. The party starts at 4 pm with a free keg and goes on till 12 pm, with music from PCJ, Sacco, Man Alive, TAXI, MMQ, YUKI and XIME's very own head chef & DJ JUN D.F.J. As for food, a special celebration dish will be sold for only RMB1 all night.

Nov 4: Day of the Dead Brunch

El Santo presents the Mexican “Dia De Muerto” or Day of the Dead brunch. Not as ghoulish as it sounds, It’s more like a celebration! Featuring Mexican crafts, more face painting, a screening of the movie Coco and Pan De Muerto. Free flow drinks will also be available.

Nov 4: Chili Cookoff

The 13th Annual Chili Cook-Off is sure to spice up your Fall with more than 15 contestants battling to be proclaimed the best chili in Shanghai. Your entry ticket means samples of all these delicious recipes plus your choice of one Sweetwater 420 or Sweetwater IPA beer.

Nov 6: Melbourne Cup Seafood Luncheon

It's time to pick out your hats, ladies, as Tuesday November 6 sees Australia's most prestigious annual Thoroughbred horse race, the Melbourne Cup.

In honor of the thunder of hooves on fresh turf, Hooked is hosting a Melbourne Cup Seafood Luncheon, with RMB588 securing you a three-course meal with free-flow Prosecco, Aperol Spritz, wine, beer, gin and tonics and vodka mixers. Get a table of six together and you can book for just RMB2,999.

Nov 7: Wine & the City's Jermann Wine Diner

Wine & The City is hosting yet another wine-and-food-filled dinner. This time around Alojz Felix Jermann, the son of one of Italy's most iconic winemakers, will co-host a special dinner at Isola. Along with Wine & The City, Felix will go through some of the most iconic Jermann wines and pair them with a special four-course menu made for the occasion by Isola. Dishes will include a creamy lobster bisque, seafood risotto, beef stew and soft polenta and so much more. You will spend the evening with 20 other food and wine lovers, so grab a date, a partner or fly solo and enjoy a toast with new friends.
