3 Killed by Falling Shop Sign on Nanjing Lu Pedestrian Street in Shanghai

Three people have been killed and six others injured after a souvenir shop signboard collapsed on Nanjing Dong Lu, Xinmin Evening News reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday night around 9.40pm, according to the information office of Huangpu District.

Those injured were passing by the souvenir shop when the billboard fell onto them, and all were taken to the hospital immediately for treatment. 

Three of the victims died en route to the hospital due injuries sustained in the incident, according to Shine.

Six of those involved were all injured to varying degrees, however none of the injuries are thought to be life threatening. They are all expected to make full recoveries. 

The local safety supervision department has begun an investigation into the incident.
