Nov 15: Tinariwen

Tuareg musical collective Tinariwen, who won a Grammy for their 2011 album Tassili and are renowned for their emotional, politically charged desert blues, come to Shanghai for the first time as part of a tour from Split Works. Check out our interview with Tinariwen here.

Nov 17: Vurro

This one-man band from Spain plays a chaotic mix of bluesy folk and hard rock. He wears a cow skull on his head during performances, and has an elaborate mythical origin story involving a man and cow fusing into one being. Should be memorable, to say the least.

Nov 17: MØ: The Future is Girls'

STD hosts this girl power-themed show headlined Danish electropop artist MØ, who was one half of a feminist punk band before becoming the vocalist on Major Lazer's wildly popular song 'Lean On' and becoming one of the world's biggest pop stars. She's also collaborated with Justin Beiber and Iggy Azalea, and is known for her fun and raucous live shows.

Nov 17: Amber Vegetation Light-Year China Tour

Xi’an based post-rockers Amber embark on their first China tour six years after releasing their debut album, Drunk Star. Check out their romantic, graceful take on post-rock at the Shanghai stop on their Vegetation Light-Year tour.

Nov 18: Rebel Yell

Newly formed street-punk band Rebellion performs for this free show at Inferno. Also on the roster are folksy metal band Star Maiden Apocalypse and new Shanghai band COG, who deal in psychedelic metal.
